2005-09-29
PacketExchange, 14th in the recent Sunday Times Microsoft TechTrack 100, today announces the expansion of its network to Asia with the addition of a point of presence in Hong Kong. This most recent announcement from the company known for building a by-pass around the public internet is the latest in a line of moves to expand the footprint as a response to industry trends and new customer requirements.
As the region experiences the fastest growth in spend on leisure such as casino gaming, TV distribution and music, providers are constantly seeking ways to meet the customer demand for faster and more reliable services. Online gaming in particular is experiencing explosive growth and as competition increases, providers fight to entice, gain and hold customers through reliable network connections. PacketExchange‘s experience in assuring business transactions for on-line gambling
The expansion of PacketExchange‘s fast growing network creates the opportunity for content providers, ISP‘s and carriers in the region and across the world to reach their end customers faster and more securely – essential for any online business dependant on its network. Customers require no costly physical connection to the network that provides high capacity, low latency, world coverage to key internet exchanges and data centres. The independent network eliminates all the traditional problems with the internet combined with an essential service level agreement.
The expansion to a key Hong Kong co-location facility is expected to attract new customers from the on-line gambling and on-line gaming industries, plus on-line music companies and Asia based Internet Service Providers.
Kieron O‘Brien, CEO of PacketExchange commented, “The network
expansion to Asia is an exciting time for the company, our customers
and prospects. Not only will providers be able to offer a faster,
more reliable service to end customers but through by-passing the
public internet they also have the opportunity to control the content
they supply."
He added “the move is the first in a line that will see the company add
a credible Asian capability to our existing footprint in Europe and
USA.”
