PACKETEXCHANGE PROVIDES IP BACKBONE FOR ENHANCED SERVICE DELIVERY TO ARBINET MEMBERS
2006-04-25
Network communications specialist, PacketExchange has announced a new agreement with Arbinet thexchange, the leading electronic market for trading, routing and settling communications capacity. The commercial agreement will see PacketExchange offering VoIP service providers the ability to connect to its voice exchange, using a quality managed private IP backbone from 24 PoPs across Europe.
This arrangement will provide the highest level of QoS to Arbinet Members, who will enjoy the benefits of the enhanced performance delivered by PacketExchange‘s high quality private IP backbone, to reach “thexchange”. These 24 PoPs function as Arbinet VoIP Exchange Delivery Points (VoIP EDPs) and also allow Arbinet to extend its range of voice services to PacketExchange customers, connected to the company‘s network from all of its global points of presence.
Kieron O‘Brien, CEO of PacketExchange commented:
“This arrangement provides a ‘win, win‘ situation. Arbinet Members stand to directly benefit from the unique capability of the PacketExchange network to carry voice traffic and effectively bypass the delays of the public Internet. As well as extending the high quality VoIP services to customers connecting to thexchange from Europe, our customers will also be able to access a new suite of voice services. At a time when corporate and domestic service providers are waking up to the vast benefits and potential of IP telephony, service quality and delivery is all important. The rigorous performance parameters offered by our network will help Arbinet meet its commercial objectives.”
