Limelight Networks use PacketExchange for high performance European reach
The Challenge
Limelight
Networks is a content delivery network for video, music, games and
software. They provide a distributed delivery network that enables the
world‘s top entertainment companies to deliver entertainment and
software via the Internet. Limelight enables some of the world‘s
largest video streaming events such as IFILM‘s Super Bowl Commercials
and MSN‘s New Year Celebration.
Globally Limelight has a fully integrated CDN infrastructure that leverages its backbone and direct interconnections for private and public peering for its distributed media delivery. However, with rapid expansion across Europe, Limelight Networks was quickly encroaching on the limits of acceptable utilization of their existing European infrastructure. The global infrastructure needed expanding.
Limelight Networks wanted to
maintain an acceptable network overhead to avoid affecting their
service and they also needed to expand upon their European peering
infrastructure to achieve better performance. In order to avoid any
performance issues and enhance their peering relationships, a solution
was needed.
The Solution
Packet Exchange worked with Limelight to expand and enhance their current
European delivery network and meet their expanding growth requirements.
Packet Exchange added additional levels of capacity by providing multiple interconnection points between Limelight Networks‘ North American and European delivery locations. Limelight was also able to take advantage of the wide-area peering service from PacketExchange, ProXimity. This has enabled Limelight Networks to enhance the overall peering infrastructure in their European delivery markets.
Through a partnership with Packet Exchange, Limelight has been able to maintain an acceptable overhead, increase their redundancy and expand their peering infrastructure to drive the efficiencies of their delivery network.
Limelight Networks‘ has now integrated Packet Exchange into its European expansion plans for future growth and objectives to provide even faster, more reliable services to their customers.
