MetroNet grows its customer base through network support from PacketExchange
The Challenge
MetroNet are a leading supplier of Broadband Services to both the home and business user. Customers benefit from services that are not usage capped, where traffic is not shaped and speed is not throttled.
Unrivalled customer service has been an essential element of the success of the company and MetroNet has therefore needed a flexible supplier who could allow them to grow effectively, as rapidly as their customer base.
The Solution
In order to continue to provide expected customer service levels to a rapidly increasing customer base, MetroNet needed a network solution that was both reliable and cost-effective. PacketExchange provided an initial 100Mb of IP transit from Level 3, with a 10mb commitment. The attraction of PacketExchange was both the ease of upgrade in terms of CDR and choice of suppliers and the ability to use the ProXimity service from the same port. ProXimity has allowed private peering, delivering MetroNet customers lower latency and high speed connections on key routes.
Since the initial service MetroNet have experienced massive growth and PacketExchange have worked closely with them to ensure service upgrades as required. This has included adding a second transit route to KPN to ensure resilience.
MetroNet continue to work in partnership with PacketExchange to continue to provide the best possible service to their customer base. They are currently considering a solution that would give them 2 completely diverse IP Transit connections from different core nodes. This would provide both network and provider diversity to ensure that they will always be connected in the event of an outage. MetroNet are also a key trialist on eXpress, a new service from PacketExchange providing automatic, global, wide area peering.
The Result
As a result of regular contact with PacketExchange and responsive support when needed, MetroNet have followed a very easy upgrade path concurrent with customer growth.
